​​Have you ever noticed the music being pumped into the sound system at the locations where you do business? There's a hidden agenda behind this music you hear being played when you shop.

This is conducted for a certain purpose and it all has to do with getting you to whip out your credit card. The business wants to you to react to the psychological conditioning that's associated with the sound of frequencies you receive from the music that's being broadcast. So it will pump in music that's soft and uplifting or makes you feel amped up and energized.

The psychological reactions you have from the music you hear is that you start to feel more relaxed - even if the music is pepped up. In fact, some types of music are known to cause the level of serotonin production to be elevated in the brain.

When this reaction happens, you feel inspired and you are more open to part with your money. While the science supporting binaural beats is significantly different, this same physiological reaction to music is what happens when your brain “tunes into” precise audio frequencies–even if you only listen for a short time each day. These are the waves responsible for you being able to solve complex problems at work or social issues in your personal life. If you need to solve a challenging puzzle like a crossword game, then the gamma brain waves are busy at work.

These types of brain waves are also connected to certain emotions like empathy and compassion. When you enter a state of fight or flight, this in part is linked to the gamma brain waves state. When you're very awake and alert, it's because these waves are kicking in. The frequency range of binaural beats associated with the gamma brain wave state is > 40 Hz.

The frequency range for beta brain waves is between 13-40 Hz. These brainwaves are activated more often when your body requires a physical exertion from you. When you're exercising at the gym or when you're running errands, these are the brain waves that are most active.

Beta brain waves assist your ability to concentrate or be consciously aware of the task at hand that you're doing–like when you're exerting mental energy while taking a test, or when you have to fill out a complicated form.

During intimate times within relationships, these brain waves are also stimulated, because they cause you to experience the feelings and effects of physical arousal (shhhh…when you get turned on).

These are all the beneficial, positive sides to what the beta brainwaves accomplish for you. On the negative side though, these same brain waves are also responsible for high stress levels that can lead to anxiety. That is, when you let your daily stress levels creep up on you and get out of control.

When you experience frustration and ​become worried, it's your brain’s beta waves that are communicating that message to the rest of your body. This is why stress can make you feel extremely anxious and cause you to feel those knots in your stomach. At this level, the frequency range is at < 4 Hz. In reality, the human brain ebbs and flows into all the aforementioned states of sleep as you venture into sleep throughout the night.
