The Pineal Gland
The pineal gland is a pine cone shaped gland of the endocrine system, which is a structure of the diencephalon of the brain. The pineal gland produces several important hormones including melatonin. Melatonin influences sexual development and sleep-wake cycles. The pineal gland is composed of cells called pinealocytes, and cells of the nervous system called glial cells. The pineal gland connects the endocrine system with the nervous system in that it converts nerve signals stemming from the sympathetic system of the peripheral nervous system into hormonal stimulation and production. Secretion of melatonin is enhanced whenever the sympathetic nervous system is stimulated.
The pineal gland is involved in several functions of the body including:
- secretion of the pre-dominant hormone melatonin which regulates healthy sleep patterns
- regulation of endocrine functions
- conversion of nervous system signals into endocrine signals
- influences sexual development especially during adolescent puberty
Where Is The Pineal Gland Located?
The pineal gland is positioned at the center of the brain between the cerebral hemispheres, and attached to the third ventricle in the brain. Interestingly it is located between the eyes, and about five inches back from the center of the forehead resting at the center of the brain, and is believed by some to also be the physical location of one’s “Third Eye” the physical root of the “Crown Chakra”, or in layman’s terms the “Mind’s Eye”.
What Is A Chakra?
The word chakra is a sanskrit word that means “wheel” and signifies one of seven energy centers in the human body. The chakras move kundalini energy up and down along the spine from the first, or root chakra at the base of the spine, up through the seventh chakra just above the crown of the head. Between them, in ascending order, the other five chakras correspond to the genitals, the lower intestines, the solar plexus and navel (natal region); heart; throat; and pineal gland or “third eye”. Although each of the chakras can be associated with various, dense centers of nerve ganglia in the body, they are not material and actually resonate within subtle energy fields that surround the body, and where physical and psychic energies interact with each other. These transparent, but highly potent fields or levels of psychic energy are sometimes called the mental, emotional, etheric and astral bodies, and they extend well beyond the physical dimensions of our physical body.
Each of the seven chakras has a musical note and color associated with emotional, mental, and physical aspects. The crown chakra, believed by some to be connected to the pineal gland, is represented by the color violet, corresponds to the musical note B, is the seventh chakra, and is thought to enhance one’s spiritual vision, understanding, and connects one to the higher dimensions of spiritual life.
Our pineal gland, also called the master gland, or the gland that governs over our mind’s eye is the center of psychic awareness in the human mind. It is about the size of a pea and sits inside a recess located behind the pituitary gland. It naturally produces a hormone called melatonin which regulates human sleep patterns, and our overall daily bio-rhythms. Developing, stimulating, and nourishing the flow of energy in your pineal gland can be beneficial as it affects every system in your physical body, and has the potential to determine the expansion or the contraction of your psychic awareness, and consciousness.
The Path To Primordial Insight…
The pineal gland sits well protected in the deep recesses of the brain, saturated by cerebrospinal fluid by the ventricles, the fluid-filled cavities of the brain that nourish it and remove waste. It releases its secretions to the inherent surrounding emotional, visual, and auditory brain centers. It helps regulate body temperature and skin tone. Generally, after the more imaginative period of childhood, the pineal calcifies and diminishes at the onset of puberty’s sex hormones, around the age of twelve.
The pineal is the only unpaired gland in the brain. Curiously, this solitary gland is light sensitive and actually has a lens, cornea, and retina. Is there a retinal circuit of bio-photons deep in the brain, which only our mind’s eye sees or even creates–could this be a gateway into the light of consciousness?
Considered the “Third Eye,” in the center of the brain, the pineal gland is implicated in the production of endogenous or natural DMT (N,N-Eimdthyltryptamine; N,N-DMT), dubbed the Spirit Molecule. The pineal synthesizes natural hallucinogens in response to certain psychophysical states, and raises serotonin levels in the brain. There is a noticeable decline in the functional output of the gland as we age.
This master gland is responsible for the internal perception of light in the brain/mind, the raising of Kundalini energy, and for awakening one’s inner vision.
The groundbreaking work of Dr. Rick Strassman1 focuses on the role natural body chemistry plays in creating spiritual life. He calls DMT the Spirit Molecule; an endogenous hallucinogen, which he boldly asserts, is an active agent in a variety of altered states including mystical, spiritual experiences.
DMT production is stimulated, in the extraordinary conditions surrounding birth, sexual orgasm, childbirth, extreme physical stress, near-death experiences, as well as deep meditation. Pineal DMT also plays a significant role in awakening dream consciousness. This chemical messenger may very well link body, mind, and spirit. Pineal activation awakens normally latent neural pathways in the brain. In other words, it “wakes” them up.
In his own words, Dr. Rick Strassman theorizes…
“All spiritual disciplines describe quite psychedelic accounts of the transformative experiences, whose attainment motivate their practice. Blinding white light, encounters with angelic entities, ecstatic emotions, timelessness, heavenly sounds, feelings of having died and being reborn, contacting a powerful and loving presence underlying all of reality–these experiences cut across all denominations. They also are characteristic of a fully psychedelic DMT experience. How might meditation evoke the pineal DMT experience?
Meditative techniques using sound, sight, or the mind may generate particular wave patterns whose fields induce resonance in the brain. Millennia of human trial and error have determined that certain “sacred” words, visual images, and mental exercises exert uniquely desired effects. Such effects may occur because of the specific fields they generate within the brain. These fields cause multiple systems to vibrate and pulse at certain frequencies. We can feel our minds and bodies resonate with these spiritual exercises. Of course, the pineal gland also is buzzing at these same frequencies. . .The pineal begins to “vibrate” at frequencies that weaken its multiple barriers to DMT formation: the pineal cellular shield, enzyme levels, and quantities of anti-DMT. The end result is a psychedelic surge of the pineal spirit molecule, resulting in the subjective states of mystical consciousness.”
The connection to ParallaxMind audio technology is how ParallaxMind stimulates and breaks the yolk of what Dr. Strassman refers to above where he states; “The pineal begins to “vibrate” at frequencies that weaken its multiple barriers to DMT formation…”. In effect, what my intention and what I believe we’re doing here with the 963Hz Pineal Gland Stimulator track, is tuning into stimulate the pineal gland subtly, gently, yet directly by targeting it’s resonant frequencies. The result is increased stimulation of the pineal gland to naturally produce DMT, while reaping the benefits of increased psychic intuition, inner vision, and awakening consciousness.
Some More Natural Ways You Can Use
To Nourish Your Pineal Gland
Here are some natural foods you can include in your diet to help activate and nourish your pineal gland naturally, especially when combined with our potent ParallaxMind 963Hz Pineal Gland Stimulator soundtrack…
Seaweed, vegetables that are sun-dried, contain high amounts of vitamin D, B-vitamins, and iodine. Those vegetables include and are not limited to kombu, arame, wakame, dulse, nori, etc.
Dark leafy greens like kale, turnip greens, mustard greens, bok choy, collard greens, spinach, parsley etc. are very nourishing for the pineal gland, as this gland absorbs the properties of the green (chlorophyll) properties of the vegetables, and properly distributes the “power of the greens” to the respective systems of the body, so the body is nourished and well maintained.
Consuming meats, including fish that contain high amounts of mercury, carbonated beverages, the fluoride in tap water and hygiene products like toothpaste, and exposure to excessive smog and pollution negatively effect the pineal gland and can limit its proper regulatory function, as well as limit one’s inner vision. In a sense it may very well… “dim one’s spiritual eye”.
The right foods can positively influence your pineal gland. You can also activate your pineal gland by eating more raw organic foods, following a vegetarian diet, running an ozone machine to revitalize the air you breath in your home, and drinking filtered water.
The pineal gland also produces serotonin when the brain is asleep. Serotonin production in the brain has been linked to one of the root physiological causes of clinical depression, which is why serotonin inhibitors like Prozac or Zoloft are prescribed by doctors to in a sense… “force” the brain to produce more serotonin by tricking it into reacting to produce more serotonin. In my opinion, serotonin inhibitors should be avoided at all costs, unless one is in dire need of them. If you are taking an anti-depressant for depression, always consult your doctor before making any changes in your dosage, or choosing to get off the medication. It is very possible to create a bridge between your ParallaxMind sessions, while weaning yourself off of any such medications, and exercising your brain and training your mind to heal symptoms of depression naturally.
I suffered from major depression for many years, especially before I learned that I had a heart condition since birth, that required open heart surgery to correct. In my case, my heart symptoms mimicked serious depression, which also influenced my thought patterns a great deal, so I would go deeper into depression which over time programmed my mind. For years I had to first become aware that I even was depressed, (because I didn’t know any other way to view and experience life), and do the necessary work to heal that aspect of my mental health. For the most part, that is all behind me and I am here to say… one can cure most forms of depression naturally. I still get depressed from time to time as we all do, but I’ve learned how to cure my depression naturally using neuro-technologies like ParallaxMind, renewing my mind with knowledge that raises my consciousness, physical body therapies and exercise, and when I choose to seek and pursue a more spiritual life.
Sleeping in a very dark room can be beneficial for the pineal gland as well. Some foods that can naturally stimulate the production of serotonin are almonds (eat 20 almonds every morning), bananas, hot peppers, rice, potatoes, legumes, and natural supplements like 5-HTP can also nourish the pineal gland, and help stave off symptoms of depression and lighten your spirit.
Sunlight is very important for the pineal gland, and provides health to the body, mind, and spirit overall. Sunlight is a vital form of sustenance that nourishes the body. Sunlight can be taken in and digested through the eyes and skin, and one can ionize the body by sitting in the sun for at least 30 minutes a day. – by Lewi Glenis – Creative Director
